GUS GYMNOPOULOS

SELECTION COMMITTEE CHAIR

Gus Gymnopoulos has been part of Canadian basketball for over two decades. He is the founder and Director of Dynamic Basketball Development Academy where he combines his role as teacher and coach to help build the next generation of student athletes. During the past 21 years teaching and coaching at Hodan Nalayeh S.S. (former Vaughan S.S.) Gus captured back-to-back provincial championships and continued to build the program into one of the most elite Prep programs in the country. Gus has supported numerous student-athletes to continue their basketball journey at various post-secondary institutions in the US and Canada. Several of the players Gus coached are now in the NBA including Andrew Wiggins, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, and Andrew Nembhard. Gus was a head coach in the inaugural Biosteel All-Canadian Game in 2015.

MIREILLE BÉLAND

STUDENT LIFE COORDINATOR - VANIER COLLEGE

Involved with the Canada basketball program since 2000, Beland a former assistant coach for both the Junior and the Cadette National teams from 2005-2010. Beland is involved in player identification and evaluation for the National program. She was the CCAA women’s national convenor from 2008-2015. Her coaching experiences also include coaching at McGill University (1988-1992), Vanier College (1992-2002), Centre Provincial d’Excellence du Québec (2002-2007) as well as many years for the Quebec Provincial teams and the Francophonie Games (2001, 2005 and 2009).

FABIENNE BLIZZARD

HEAD COACH - CAPITAL COURTS ACADEMY

A University of Ottawa Gee-Gees Hall of Famer, Blizzard served as Ottawa University Head & Assistant coach, assistant coach for the Cadette Women’s National team, BlackJacks (CEBL) Assistant Coach, spent several years coaching Ontario’s provincial teams and Head Coach for OSBA Capital Courts Academy. She co-founded Capital Courts Academy, a one-stop training environment giving athletes the opportunity to participate in a comprehensive high-level program that support both academic and basketball goals. She is responsible for the management and direction of the academy,
In 2018, she joined the staff of the Cadette Women’s National U15-16 team as an assistant, winning silver at the FIBA Americas tournament. As a head coach for Ontario U15 and U17 provincial teams, she brought her teams to three national titles, in 2015, 2017 and 2018.
With a desire of making an impact in the growth and development of young athletes, Blizzard has been an active member of the basketball community, from coaching at the club level to promoting technical and soft skills at various speaking events, including the Women Symposiums, the Women’s Forum Network and the SEED Hoop Forum Senegal. In May 2019, she flew to Senegal, where she served as guest coach for the Girls’ NBA Academy Africa kick-off.

AGNES BORG

MANAGER - YOUTH PLAYER DEVELOPMENT / TALENT IDENTIFICATION - TEAM CANADA BASKETBALL / ASSISTANT COACH - KING'S CHRISTIAN COLLEGIATE / TECHNICAL DIRECTOR - IBSA

Agnes Borg is currently the Manager of Youth Player Development and Talent Identification for Canada Basketball. As an athlete, she played professional basketball in France for 8 years as well as for the French National team. With twenty years of European experience as a coaching professional, evaluator of coaches for their diploma certification and sports director (Toulouse, Istres), she led her teams as a coach, to two Euro Cups. Since her arrival in Canada, she has shared her expertise as assistant coach of Ryerson University (2007-2008) and as the assistant coach with the Cadet National Team.

CARLY CLARKE

ASSISTANT COACH - TEAM CANADA / HEAD COACH - TMU WBB

Carly Clarke has been Head Coach of the Rams Women's Basketball Team since 2012. Clarke has held various Assistant and Head Coach positions over the years with Team Canada, seeing success on the international stage including gold at the FIBA Americas U16 Championship.

Prior to joining the Rams, Clarke spent three seasons in the head coaching position at UPEI. The Halifax, N.S. native and Level III NCCP certified coach has garnered both national and international accolades working with Canada Basketball as well as various provincial sport organizations.


As an athlete, Clarke played five seasons with Bishop's where she guided the Gaiters to a QSSF championship and fifth-place finish at the CIS Final 8 in 2004. The former academic all-Canadian, who completed a Bachelor of Science in Biology, also topped the nation in 2004 in three-point field-goal shooting percentage.

MARLO DAVIS

HEAD COACH - CRESTWOOD PREP / CANADA BASKETBALL U18

Marlo Davis is Head Coach at Crestwood Preo and Assistant Coach for Team Canada U18. Davis played college basketball at UNC-Wilmington. He is a 2x OSBA champion and Silver medallist at U18 FIBA Americas 2022.

MICHAEL HENRY

CROWN SCOUT GIRLS

Michael Henry is an analyst and writer with CROWN Scout since it inception in 2007.

He has witnessed first hand, the coming of age with the game of basketball at the high school level, by routinely traveling across Canada and the United States evaluating Canadian girls playing the game at its highest levels.

His focus is creating the right opportunities for high level Canadian basketball players, by helping them connect them with Canadian and American colleges and universities.

HANDEL KIPP

FORT ERIE INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY / BECOME ONE

Along with 10+ years of coaching experience Handel Kipp is co-founder of AAU Become One Women's basketball and the head coach of Fort Erie International Academy. So far he has helped 100+ student-athletes achieve post-secondary opportunities in the NCAA D1/D2/CIS/OCAA and in 2002 Handel has earned himself as the only Canadian ranked in the "Top 100 most influential people in women's grassroots basketball" coming in at #83.

RICHARD NURSE

KIA NURSE ELITE / LINCOLN PREP

Richard Nurse has been coaching for over 25 years at the Club, Prep and AAU Level. Richard has won 14 Provincial Gold medal and has been instrumental in the development of Professional, Olympians, CIS, NCAA and Provincial basketball players. He also runs Kia Nurse Elite the only sponsored Nike program in Canada. It is the top premier girls development and recruiting organizations in Ontario. Richard is also the Program Director and Head Basketball Coach at Lincoln Prep.

EDDIE RICHARDSON III

DIRECTOR OF BASKETBALL, EDGE SCHOOL / PRESIDENT OF GENESIS BASKETBALL

Eddie Richardson III has been an integral part of Western Canadas growth in basketball over the past fifteen years. Eddie is the President of one of the largest club development programs in Canada Genesis Basketball, as well as the Director of Basketball at the premier high performance Prep program in Western Canada, Edge School.

JESSICA ROQUE

HEAD COACH - UNIVERSITY OF WATERLOO WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Roque enters her third season with the Warriors, after an impressive first season of games that saw a program playoff berth for the first time in over a decade. Roque came over from the Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) women’s basketball program where she spent four seasons as the full-time Lead Assistant Coach.   During her time as an assistant, Roque helped propel the Rams to two U SPORTS Final 8 appearances. Roque also led the Rams as the interim head coaching role in the summer of 2018 during an international competition in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. On top of Roque's valuable experience gained at the U SPORTS level, she has coached in various roles at the provincial and national level. Provincially, Roque led the U14 Ontario Girl's team in the Summer of 2019 and was also the assistant of the U17 Ontario Girl's team at the 2017 Canada Summer Games. Roque has also been a coach at the Ontario Basketball Association Centre for Performance from 2016-2019. Nationally, Roque was a training camp coach for the Junior National Men's Basketball team in 2017, a program that went on to win the FIBA World Cup gold medal. Recently she served as a performance analyst for the Junior Women’s National team that qualified for Worlds in Buenas Aires, Argentina this past summer. In addition, Roque has also a guest assistant coach for the Sacramento Kings in July of 2019 at their California Classic Tournament. In addition, Roque gained more valuable interuniversity experience as an assistant coach in the NCAA for Cleveland State University (CSU) during the 2015-16 season. Roque also had a very decorated playing career, suiting up for the CSU Vikings for four seasons (2006-2010) and winning the 2008 and 2010 Horizon League Championship as co-captain. In 2010, Roque graduated from CSU with honours and a bachelors of science in health science. She then went on to take two years of Graduate School, graduating with honours and a masters of education in exercise science. Roque now calls Waterloo her home.
